How to Find the Perfect Prom Dress

How to Find the Perfect Prom Dress

Prom. The most awaited night for any high school student. Are you dreaming of the perfect night, with the perfect date, in the perfect dress? I remember what that was like and am here to share my personal tips and tricks on finding the perfect dress.

1. Set a Budget

First things first. Set a budget. Otherwise you will quickly run into decision fatigue looking at thousands and thousands of dresses. Set a budget and stick with it. Go online and filter by your budget to see what is actually feasible. Shopping on boutique online sites is a great idea. This will especially help you stand out and not pick a dress someone else might also pick. Sometimes the best place to shop for women's formalwear is at boutique online shops. Remember the dress is important but you want to keep some money for other things as well.

2. Pick a Few Styles and Colors

Don't get too set on one color and one style. Pick a few that you like. If you restrict yourself too much you might not find anything and all and worse you may not give something that would look great a chance. Pick a few options and keep an open mind. Also don't forget you can always find a prom dress at online women's shops. Sometimes the best place to buy a unique prom dress is at a women's online clothing store.

3. Focus on what you Love About your Body

The key to finding the perfect dress is not about what designer you choose, or everyone else is choosing. It's actually about picking a dress that flatters your body. Remember everyone has a different body type and so focusing on what you love most about yourself will make you the most confident, and we all know confidence is the best accessory. Maybe you love your butt and opt for a tight body hugging dress or maybe you want a cinched waist with a big skirt for a more fairytale look. Maybe you want to channel your inner queen and go for the fully sequined gown. Shop online to find plus size prom dresses, or petite prom dresses.

4. Keep in Mind you may Need to Alter

One size does not fit all and you need to keep in mind that you may need to alter the dress. Don't worry if it's a little too long, a little too tight or even a little too loose. Don't underestimate the power of a tailor. Often times the perfect fit is all that is missing for a dreamy look. How else do you think all the celebrities' look so perfect?

5. Shop Online

Sometimes you need to just sit down with a nice beverage on your couch and surf the web. You can visit so many more stores in a shorter period of time. There's also the added benefit of not having to wear a mask. You can always refer to size guides and reviews and then try on the dress with those heels you already have at home. If it doesn't work out don't worry many stores have flexible exchange and return policies. Plus you have so many more options to shop for women's formalwear online as well as the ability to filter your options. Boutique online shops are always a good option. Sometimes even shopping at online wedding stores can help you find a unique dress that no one would think of buying. Often times online wedding shops will include non white or over the top dresses that can be worn for prom.

6. HAVE FUN

Remember this is supposed to be fun not stressful! Don't get too carried away with the process and make sure you enjoy it along with your friends.
